The second edition of Wärtsilä’s Encyclopedia of Ship Technology has been at the Nor-Shipping exhibition and conference in Oslo. The publication provides definitions to the current terminology used in the marine industry’s technical vocabulary. It is intended as a means to pass on Wärtsilä’s experience and know-how in this field, not only to the current community of experts but also to future generations of maritime professionals. It is free to use.

The encyclopedia is part of Wärtsilä’s ongoing industry support programme aimed at helping current and future marine engineers, architects, and other industry specialists. It also provides valuable assistance to anyone reviewing the shipbuilding trends that are moving the industry forward.

“The success of the first edition of the Encyclopedia of Ship Technology encouraged us to make the effort to follow up with this latest version that includes terminology relating to the very latest technological developments. This work was made possible by a dedicated team of Wärtsilä subject area experts. It is appropriate that the launch of this publication is being made at Nor-Shipping, since Wärtsilä is using this forum to launch a series of its latest innovations,” says Jaakko Eskola, Senior Executive Vice President & President, Ship Power, Wärtsilä Corporation.
