Freeport, Grand Bahama, Bahamas. October 13, 2016 – Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBSL), the largest shipyard in the Caribbean and Central America, reports minor damage from Hurricane Matthew and confirms they are open for business and ready to continue serving their customers whilst assisting and supporting the community recovery.

The yard sustained minor damage, mainly to buildings and general property. Due to the coordinated efforts of GBSL employees, the yard is clear and ready to safely accept vessels. Three vessels are scheduled to arrive for work on October 14, 2016.

Hurricane Matthew, comprising winds in excess of 120 miles per hour passed through Grand Bahama island October 6, 2016 causing distruption and significant damage to the island’s infrastructure and the community in general.

The yard, supported by its valued partners, will energetically assist community efforts to expediently restore the islands effected areas by supporting food banks and lending expertise to repair projects.
