Subsea Industries report that rudders and nozzles on tankers owned by Pleiades are showing no cavitation damage after 2.5 years in service with their Ecoshield coating.
Ten Pleiades tankers have received Ecoshield coatings, starting in 2013 with the rudder of the crude oil tanker Evrotas. Several have since come back to drydock needing no recoating work on these area. Nine of the ships also had the coating applied on their nozzles.
Pleiades’ Technical Director Mr. Miltos Synefias commented that the decision to apply the coating on the first vessel was not an easy one, but that the obtained results made the choice to extend the coating to the other vessels obvious.
